Trail Report: Spooner / Washburn County Wisconsin – September 1, 2017

Trail Conditions: Good

Date of Report: September 1, 2017
Area Report:

All Washburn County ATV trails are open at this time. All trails are now cleared and trails are open for travel. Please be aware that riders will encounter numerous small branches and other debris on the trail surface.  In addition, heavy rain this summer also caused numerous minor washouts and trail surfaces may be rough in some areas.  Riders are urged to ride with caution.

There are two locations on the Tuscobia State Trail in Sawyer County that are closed due to storm damages—one just west of Radisson, one just east of Birchwood. Sawyer County has established alternative routes around the Wooddale section. They have been able to place temporary approaches to the existing trail bridge just west of Radisson.  The Tuscobia Trail is once again open at this location.  This repair is interim and final repair of the bridge will still need to occur.  The interim repair has been reviewed by an engineer and deemed safe for public use at this time.  Caution signs are posted due to the heightened approach needed.

Please note that the Washburn County ATV Trails will remain open unless fire danger is listed as very high, or higher. This also includes the Wild River Trail and the railroad grade to Shell Lake. Riders are encouraged to check on fire danger levels before operating on the trails.
