Trail Report: Hayward, Wisconsin – May 24, 2024

Trail Conditions: Good

Area Report:

Sawyer County ATV/UTV trails are open and ready to ride! Please note that recently approved routes are NOT ready for riding. They must be signed first. We will post here when all newly approved routes are ready.

Please contact the Chequamegon National Forest’s District Recreational Info at 715-634-4821 for additional questions.  For the Flambeau State Forest call 715-332-5271.  

Non-Resident Trail Passes are required for ATVs.  (WI residents do not need a trail pass but are required to display their registration sticker.)

State law requires ATVs to always operate with headlights on.

Sawyer County allows the use of Side by Sides on ALL ATV TRAILS, including those in the Chequamegon National Forest.

Trail Report: Antigo | Langlade County, Wisconsin – May 24, 2024

Area Report:

The Langlade County ATV/UTV Trail System is open.  Due to recent strong storms throughout the area, trees are down throughout the Langlade County ATV/UTV trail system.  The ATV/UTV Clubs are working to clear trails as quickly as possible.  Please exercise caution as you use the trail system over the next few days as you may encounter downed trees. It is possible for additional trees to fall in the coming days.

LANGLADE COUNTY ATV/UTV TRAILS WEST OF US HIGHWAY 45 AND NORTH OF COUNTY HIGHWAY J WILL OPEN ON WEDNESDAY MAY 1, AT 6:00 AM.   

All County Highway road routes in Langlade County are open year-round.

Trails are in rough early season conditions, riders are encouraged to use caution while on the trails.

Trail Report: Hayward, Wisconsin – April 9, 2024

Trail Conditions: Closed

Area Report:

Currently the Chequamegon National Forest as well as the Sawyer County Forest trails are closed for the spring thaw. Please take note of these areas on the map.

Light green shaded area on map is Chequamegon National Forest, these trails are closed until 5/1

Orange is Flambeau Forest, that has been closed since 11/15 and remains closed until 5/15.

Dark green is County Land, this is closed until 5/15

*these springs closures may be shortened we will update as soon as anything has changed.

Please know you can ride roads and routes not on the above mentioned managed forest lands. Trail 10 (Tuscobia) is open with the exception of the 9 mile Loop (#11).

NEWS RELEASE/ PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
LANGLADE COUNTY SNOWMOBILE AND WINTER ATV TRAILS

With the lack of snow and cold weather all winter, Langlade County’s funded snowmobile and winter ATV trails will not open during the remainder of the 2023-24 season, regardless of any potential snowfall by March 31.

We would like to extend a thank you to the clubs, volunteers, and landowners that make our trail system possible. We look forward to next winter for a more successful snowmobile and winter ATV season.

Langlade Counties Summer ATV/UTV trail system is anticipated to open earlier than normal this year but remain closed at this time.

Many ATV/UTV road routes are open and available for use. Maps of open ATV/UTV road routes are available by clicking here and scrolling down to the ATV/UTV Map section.

Trail Report: Hayward, Wisconsin – March 7, 2024

Trail Conditions: Closed

We just received word from the Sawyer County Forestry Department, after closely monitoring and seeing how soft the ground is and the deep ruts and damage being done they will be CLOSING the county land trails this FRIDAY 3/8/24 at NOON. They hope and don’t anticipate the closure will be as long as the normal spring closure as it is starting earlier, but they will monitor this and keep us updated. We will update as we move forward this spring.

The Chequamegon National Forest (light green area on map) is in conversation about closing the forest to ATV/UTV traffic early (normal closure starts 3/15) for spring closure. The closure will not be official until they do a press release, but does sound like one will be coming soon. Please follow U.S. Forest Service – Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest for any updates. We will also follow and update.
