Your Online Trail and Travel Guide for ATV the U.S. & Canada

Trail Conditions: Closed

Date of Report: March 7, 2024
Area Report:

We just received word from the Sawyer County Forestry Department, after closely monitoring and seeing how soft the ground is and the deep ruts and damage being done they will be CLOSING the county land trails this FRIDAY 3/8/24 at NOON. They hope and don’t anticipate the closure will be as long as the normal spring closure as it is starting earlier, but they will monitor this and keep us updated. We will update as we move forward this spring.

The Chequamegon National Forest (light green area on map) is in conversation about closing the forest to ATV/UTV traffic early (normal closure starts 3/15) for spring closure. The closure will not be official until they do a press release, but does sound like one will be coming soon. Please follow U.S. Forest Service – Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest for any updates. We will also follow and update.

Please contact the Chequamegon National Forest’s District Recreational Info at 715-634-4821 for additional questions.  For the Flambeau State Forest call 715-332-5271.

Non-Resident Trail Passes are required for ATVs.  (WI residents do not need a trail pass but are required to display their registration sticker.)

State law requires ATVs to always operate with headlights on.

Sawyer County allows the use of Side by Sides on ALL ATV TRAILS, including those in the Chequamegon National Forest.
