Trail Report: Price County, Wisconsin – June 19, 2018

ATV, UTV & Off-Road Motorcycle Trail Report – 6/19/18

  • Flambeau Trail System (70 miles) ~ OPEN May 1 through March 15 – The trail is openWe had a major rain event June 14-17, 2018. The trail managers are assessing the trail system for flood damage. Ride with caution. The brusher is currently working south of Hwy 70 between Wintergreen and Sailor Lake. Logging is taking place on trail 118A-111 by Hwy 182, so please use caution as logging equipment may be crossing the trail. Please report any issues, especially water over the trail, to Brady Howe at bjhowe@fs.fed.us or 715-762-5104 and leave a detailed message on where the issue is.   • Solberg Trail (9.5 miles) ~ OPEN May 1 through March 14 – The trail is open following the June 14-17 rain event. The Solberg Trail had brushing and grading done to the open section (non-detour section), so it is in very good riding shape. Due to unsafe bridge conditions, there is a detour in place from the parking located on E. Solberg Lake Road to FR 508. There is a sign posted noting the reroute which uses a town road. The section of the trail north of the bridge remains open from FR 508 going north. The reroute will be in place until late-summer.
  • Georgetown Trail (15.8 miles) ~ OPEN May 1 through March 14 – The Georgetown Trail is in good shape for ATV, UTV and Off-road Motorcycle riding. There are two active logging operations. One starts just north of the White Birch Lane parking lot and ends at the White Birch Lane trail intersection. The other is just west of where the trail crosses Skinner Creek Road. Watch for signs and slow down for your safety and for the safety of the workers.
  • Tuscobia  State Trail (64 miles) ~ OPEN April 16 through November 15  – Due to a severe washout, there is a TRAIL CLOSURE west of Park Falls from the Tuscobia’s intersection with County Highway E, and going west to its intersection with West Buckhorn Road. Click here for the detour map. There is a small washout about a mile east of Draper by Hathaway Road at the culvert; it is passable and has green markers on it. Beginning July 9 (originally scheduled to begin June 18), there will be a detour for a trail repair east of Winter near Sundling Road in Sawyer County through July 25, 2018. There will be signs posted for the reroute. For questions regarding the detour, contact Sawyer County Forestry at 715-634-4846.
  • Flambeau River State Forest Trail (38 miles) ~ OPEN May 15 through November 15Prior to June 14-17, 2018 rain event –
    The trail is in very good condition. Please be aware there is a stretch of trail on Hines Grade Road that is in need of some repair work; half of the road bed has washed away.  It is clearly marked and still passable.

Area Report:

Price County received significant rain June 14-17, 2018. These photos were taken on 6-17-2018 on the Tuscobia State Trail just west of Buckhorn Road. Buckhorn Road is located west of Park Falls (between Smith Lake County Park & Campground on the east, and Butternut Creek on the west).

Trail managers are assessing trails. As their reports are received, trail condition updates will be posted at http://www.co.price.wi.us/843/Reports—Trail-and-Recreation.

Trail Report: Spooner / Washburn County Wisconsin – June 15, 2018

Area Report:

All Washburn County ATV Trails are open at this time. Please be aware that ATV trails automatically close at any time that Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources fire danger is listed at very high or higher – this closure would also include the Wild River Trail and the Railroad Grade to Shell Lake. ATV use on Washburn County Forest lands is also restricted during periods of very high or higher fire danger.

Fire danger conditions are listed at the website listed below:

If fire danger is elevated to very high or higher, Washburn County will have enforcement staff monitoring trails for unauthorized use. Be aware that fires can start from grass and dead leaves in contact with hot machine components. Be cautious not to stop or park machines in areas of dry grass or other forest litter. Be careful with any cigarettes or other smoking materials and campfires are not recommended. Please note that campfires on county forest lands are not permitted in the towns of Chicog, Casey, Springbrook or Minong (sand/pine townships).

Also be aware that not all trails have been graded for the start of the season and riders may encounter portions of rough trails.

Hello Riders!

Welcome to ATV/UTV Season 2018! The Sawyer County trails are now OPEN and in EXCELLENT condition 

GOOD NEWS! the Chequamegon National Forest and the Flambeau Forest  are all open to UTV’s 65″ or less.  No restrictions in Sawyer County – but check your map when riding into Bayfield County.

Miles and miles of trails to ride and the best restaurants and resorts to stop at! Get out and ride!!  

News and Reports:

New Routes that have been approved, but are not legal until signs are installed, include:

**The new connector route from Hayward to Stone Lake, which runs along the Olker-Kadlec-Highline-Williams-Old Hwy 27-Rainbow Rd and Washburn County routes to Stone Lake.

**The new route north out of Hayward, near Adventure RV and Hayward Powersports.  It includes sections along Hwy K and from the LCO Country Store to the Bass Lake Town Hall.

**County Road B from Prop’s Landing Waterfront Grille to Frogg Road

**Snowmobile Trail 29 to Sevenwinds Casino, Lodge, & Conference Center

Trail Report: Price County, Wisconsin – June 11, 2018

Area Report:

Price County Highway ATV / UTV routes are open May 15 through October 15.  There is bridge construction taking place on County Highway H; the designated detour route is County Highway F to Flemings Rapids Road to County Highway W.   

  • Flambeau Trail System (70 miles)~ OPEN May 1 through March 15 – The trail is getting a bit dusty.  Brusher is currently working south of Hwy 70 between Wintergreen and Sailor Lake, we expect him to be finished this week.
