Trail Report: Spooner / Washburn County Wisconsin – July 10, 2018

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Date of Report: July 10, 2018

Area Report:

All Washburn County ATV Trails are open at this time. There may be a few rough spots from the storm a couple of weeks ago, but overall the trails are in great condition. If you plan to travel to surrounding counties, please check their trail conditions as north and northeast of us, most trail systems are closed at this time due to extensive damage.

Please be aware that ATV trails automatically close at any time that Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources fire danger is listed at very high or higher – this closure would also include the Wild River Trail and the Railroad Grade to Shell Lake. ATV use on Washburn County Forest lands is also restricted during periods of very high or higher fire danger.

Fire danger conditions are listed at the website listed below:

If fire danger is elevated to very high or higher, Washburn County will have enforcement staff monitoring trails for unauthorized use. Be aware that fires can start from grass and dead leaves in contact with hot machine components. Be cautious not to stop or park machines in areas of dry grass or other forest litter. Be careful with any cigarettes or other smoking materials and campfires are not recommended. Please note that campfires on county forest lands are not permitted in the towns of Chicog, Casey, Springbrook or Minong (sand/pine townships).

Also be aware that not all trails have been graded for the start of the season and riders may encounter portions of rough trails.

Trail Report: Price County, Wisconsin – July 9, 2018

Trail Conditions: Good

Date of Report: July 9, 2018

Area Report:

  • Flambeau Trail System (70 miles)~ The trails are dry and dusty. There are no active timber sales. Some minor washouts may be found on the trail from the storms that occurred over Father’s Day weekend. 
  • Solberg Trail (9.5 miles)~ The trail had brushing and grading done to the open section (non-detour section), so it is in very good riding shape. Due to unsafe bridge conditions, there is a detour in place from the parking located on E. Solberg Lake Road to FR 508.
  • Georgetown Trail (15.8 miles)~ The trail is in good shape for ATV, UTV and Off-road Motorcycle riding. There are several active logging operations. Watch for signs and slow down for your safety and for the safety of the loggers.
  • Tuscobia  State Trail (64 miles) ~ Due to a major washout there is a detour west of Park Falls from the Tuscobia’s intersection with County Highway E, and going west to its intersection with West Buckhorn Road. There is a small washout about a mile east of Draper by Hathaway Road at the culvert; it is passable. Beginning July 9, 2018, there will be a detour for a trail repair east of Winter, near Sundling Road in Sawyer County.

Trail Report: Price County, Wisconsin – July 5, 2018

Area Report:

The Flambeau Trail System (70 miles) is getting dusty in several spots and things are drying out.  Currently there are no active timber sales or brushing work being done on the trails.  Some minor washouts may be found on the trail from the storms that occurred over Father’s Day weekend. The Solberg Trail (9.5 miles) has an unsafe bridge and there is a detour in place from the parking located on E. Solberg Lake Road to FR 508. It has had brushing and grading done to the open section (non-detour section), and is in very good riding shape.  The Georgetown Trail (15.8 miles) is in good shape for ATV, UTV and Off-road Motorcycle riding. Hello Riders!

Welcome to ATV/UTV Season 2018! The Sawyer County trails are now OPEN and in EXCELLENT condition 

***EXCEPTION***  Beginning July 9 (originally scheduled to begin June 18), there will be a detour for a trail repair east of Winter near Sundling Road in Sawyer County through July 25, 2018. There will be signs posted for the reroute. For questions regarding the detour, contact Sawyer County Forestry at 715-634-4846.

GOOD NEWS! the Chequamegon National Forest and the Flambeau Forest  are all open to UTV’s 65″ or less.  No restrictions in Sawyer County – but check your map when riding into Bayfield County.

Miles and miles of trails to ride and the best restaurants and resorts to stop at! Get out and ride!!
