Trail Report: Spooner / Washburn County Wisconsin – January 29, 2018

Trail Conditions: Good

Area Report:

All official Washburn County ATV trails are considered open to year round use, with the exception of the spring closure from April 1 through the first Friday before Memorial Weekend.

Most snowmobile trails, on Washburn County Forest lands, are open for motor vehicle use under 900 pounds from December 1 through April 1.  This means that ATV’s are permitted on snowmobile trails that are not on private lands, during the winter months.  UTV’s are allowed on these same trails ONLY during non-groomed conditions.  Please note that the April 1 closure is flexible; Trails may close earlier depending on conditions.

Washburn County Forest lands are designated as a gray background on the official Washburn County Snowmobile/ATV map.

Land use agreements with private landowners for snowmobile trails do not permit the use of ATV’s at any time of the year.

Trail Report: Price County, Wisconsin – January 29, 2018

Trail Conditions: Good

Area Report:

Price County Highway routes are closed October 15 to May 15. Municipality (city and town) routes and trails remain open.    

  • Flambeau Trail System (70 miles) ~ OPEN – This trail is shared with snowmobile riders. In the winter, the trail system is maintained by the Bushwackers and the Sno-Drovers snowmobile clubs. Please see their snowmobile trail reports above. 
  • Solberg Trail (9.5 miles) ~ OPEN – Repairs are being made on the bridges. The trail remains open and can be ridden. The trail is not groomed on a regular basis during the winter.     
  • Georgetown Trail (18.8 miles) ~ OPEN – The trail is in good condition. The trail is not groomed on a regular basis during the winter.
  • Pine Line / Price-Taylor Rail Trail/Prentice Area ~ OPEN with restrictions –  The Price County portion of the Pine Line Rail Trail (Prentice to Ogema), Snowmobile Trail 189 (Ogema to Timm’s Hill), and Snowmobile Trails 116, 181 and 118 (Prentice area loop) are open to winter ATV and UTV riding when officially open to snowmobile use and the temperature is  28 degrees or colder. The Taylor County portion of the Pine Line, south of Price County, may also be open. Click here to find Taylor County contact information. 
  • Tuscobia  State Trail (64 miles) ~ CLOSED in Price County – From Park Falls west to the Price County line, the trail is closed to ATV and UTV use for the 2017 season. The Price County section will reopen April 16, 2018.   • Flambeau River State Forest Trail (38 miles) ~ CLOSED – The trail is closed to ATV and UTV use for the 2017 season. It will reopen May 15, 2018.
