Hello Riders!
The Sawyer County trails are OPEN and in EXCELLENT condition, Autumn is the best time to ride our scenic trails!!
GOOD NEWS! the Chequamegon National Forest and the Flambeau Forest are all open to UTV’s 65″ or less. No restrictions in Sawyer County – but check your map when riding into Bayfield County.
Miles and miles of trails to ride and the best restaurants and resorts to stop at! Get out and ride!!

All Washburn County ATV Trails are open at this time. There may be a few rough spots and minor washouts from recent rainfall, but overall the trails are in good condition. If you plan to travel to surrounding counties, please check their trail conditions as they may still be recovering their trail systems for storm damages earlier this season.
Please be aware that ATV trails automatically close at any time that Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources fire danger is listed at very high or higher – this closure would also include the Wild River Trail and the Railroad Grade to Shell Lake. ATV use on Washburn County Forest lands is also restricted during periods of very high or higher fire danger.
Fire danger conditions are listed at the website listed below:

If fire danger is elevated to very high or higher, Washburn County will have enforcement staff monitoring trails for unauthorized use. Be aware that fires can start from grass and dead leaves in contact with hot machine components. Be cautious not to stop or park machines in areas of dry grass or other forest litter. Be careful with any cigarettes or other smoking materials and campfires are not recommended. Please note that campfires on county forest lands are not permitted in the towns of Chicog, Casey, Springbrook or Minong (sand/pine townships).
Also be aware that not all trails have been graded for the start of the season and riders may encounter portions of rough trails.

Flambeau Trail System (70 miles) ~ OPEN May 1 through March 15 – Report date 9/24/18 – Trails are in good fall riding condition. There are no active timber sales on the trails. If any trail users encounter a plugged culvert or water over the trail please contact Brady Howe at 715-762-5104 or bjhowe@fs.fed.us.

•Solberg Trail (9.5 miles) ~ OPEN May 1 through March 14 – Report date 9/24/18 – The Solberg Trail is brushed, graded and in very good condition for riding. Due to unsafe bridge conditions, there is a signed detour, using a town road, in place from the parking area located on E. Solberg Lake Road to FR 508. The section of the trail north of the bridge remains open from FR 508 going north. Trail manager – Price County Forestry & Parks Department – 715-339-6371.
•Georgetown Trail (15.8 miles) ~ OPEN May 1 through March 14 – Report date 9/25/18 – The Georgetown Trail is in good condition for ATV, UTV and Off-road Motorcycle riding. It is a little wet, but the trail is in great shape. Ttrail manager – Price County Forestry & Parks Department – 715-339-6371.
•Tuscobia State Trail (64 miles) ~ OPEN April 16 through November 15 – Report date 9/19/18 – The trail is in good riding condition. There is a detour between County Highway E and Buckhorn Road in Price County due to a washout. The detour is via County Highway E and West Buckhorn Road. Riders will find another detour just east of Winter to Clover Road. DETOURS – Click here for the detour maps. Trail manager – Natural Resources Property Supervisor – 715-669-4342.
•Flambeau River State Forest Trail (38 miles) ~ OPEN May 15 through November 15 – Report date 9/27/18 – The ATV/UTV trail system is in good condition. Use caution north of Hwy W, as there is an active timber sale in progress. Slow down in work zones for your safety and for the safety of the loggers as they work. ATV, UTV & Off-Road Motorcycle Trail Report – 9/19/18
Price County has NOT had the flooding issues that are occurring in other parts of Wisconsin. All trails are in good riding condition. Fall colors are at approximately 25% in northeast Price County (Flambeau Trail System) and 15-20% elsewhere in the county. Peak color it typically during the first week of October.
Flambeau Trail System (70 miles) ~ OPEN May 1 through March 15 – Report date 9/19/18 – Weather conditions are perfect for getting out and enjoying the trails. The trail surface will be less dusty with the mid-week rain we are receiving. The forecast calls for dry conditions this coming weekend. There are currently no active timber sales on the trails. If any trail users encounter a plugged culvert or water over the trail please contact Brady Howe at 715-762-5104 or bjhowe@fs.fed.us. Saturday, September 22 is National Public Lands Day, which is a Fee Free Day on your National Forests. Day use fees are waived on this day at areas such as boat ramps, trail heads and picnic areas. Solberg Trail (9.5 miles) ~ OPEN May 1 through March 14 – Report date 9/19/18 – The Solberg Trail had brushing and grading done to the open section (non-detour section), so it is in very good riding shape. Due to unsafe bridge conditions, there is a detour in place from the parking area located on E. Solberg Lake Road to FR 508. There is a sign posted noting the reroute which uses a town road. The section of the trail north of the bridge remains open from FR 508 going north. The reroute will be in place until late-summer. Weather conditions are perfect for getting out and enjoying the trails. Things are getting a little dusty in a few spots but otherwise things are looking great. There are currently no active timber sales on the trails. Starting on Monday next week USFS crews will be working on redoing the deck on the bridge at Riley Creek, between FR 144 and 118A-111 and ask that trail users please avoid using this segment during this time as the bridge will be impassible for short periods. If any trail users encounter a plugged culvert or water over the trail please contact Brady Howe at 715-762-5104 or bjhowe@fs.fed.us. Saturday, September 22 is National Public Lands Day, which is a Fee Free Day on your National Forests. Day use fees are waived on this day at areas such as boat ramps, trail heads and picnic areas.
