A few notes about ATV/UTV riding as we near the end of fall and begin winter.

The ATV/UTV trails on the map are PURPLE 🟣. We have paper trail maps that are combo maps (ORV and Snow trails). You can also download the app Trail Treker for $2.99. Once you download the app you can get any map. You can get the Sawyer County combo map or you can get snow only or ATV/UTV only. You can also find other counties. Once you download you do not need cell service to view your maps which is a great thing in the north woods as service can be spotty. The new 2024 map will be released sometime in December.

🟩 LIGHT Green = The Chequamengon National Forest. These trails stay open for winter riding (This includes The Deadhorse/trail 25).

🟠 = Flambeau State Forest. Closes to ATV/UTV traffic 11/15-5/15

•The Tuscobia (trail 10) allows winter riding but is closed 11/15-12/15.

🟢 DARK Green = County Land trails. ATV/UTV traffic allowed until grooming for snowmobiles begins (watch for updates). Once snowmobile grooming has begun ATV’s only or ORV’s 900lbs or less are allowed only until after spring closure ends.

County and township roads/routes that are open to ATV/UTV traffic allowed through winter as are trails not on county land or Flambeau Forest.

On the map there are 🟨 noting any additional closures and warnings.

Please note that if you are riding during the 11/15-12/15 time frame on open trails that you where bright colors or 🟧 as it is deer hunting and hunters do hunt public land.

Please contact the Chequamegon National Forest’s District Recreational Info at 715-634-4821 for additional questions.  For the Flambeau State Forest call 715-332-5271.
